Político y profesor universitario aragonés. Nació en Huesca en el seno de una familia progresista. A los 15 años se afilia al PSOE. En 1936, tras ser fusilado su padre (médico-militar leal al gobierno legítimo de la República) se traslada con su familia a Zaragoza, donde estudia Filosofía y Letras y Magisterio. Se dedica a la docencia (Director del Colegio San Isidoro, profesor de la Escuela de Turismo de Zaragoza, catedrático de Geografía e Historia en el instituto Miguel Servet y en la Universidad Laboral de Zaragoza). En 1977 es elegido diputado por el PSOE en las Cortes Constituyentes. Fue también secretario político del comité permanente de la Asamblea de Parlamentarios de Aragón. Ocupó el cargo de vicepresidente en el primer Gobierno de Aragón (1978-79). En el ámbito profesional, es Decano del Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Doctores y Licenciados en Filosofía y Letras y en Ciencias (1973-1983), donde lleva a cabo una gran labor de recuperación y estudio de temas aragoneses. Organiza la Federación de Colegios Profesionales de Aragón la cual lleva a cabo el Congreso de Estudios Aragoneses en 1976, del cual es elegido Presidente. Fue también miembro del Patronato de la Universidad de Zaragoza.
Aragonese politician and professor. He was born in Huesca in a progressive family. At the age of 15 he joined the Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE/Spanish Socialist Worker's Party). In 1936, after his father was shot (military doctor loyal to the legitimate government of the Republic), Jaime Gaspar Auría moved to Zaragoza with his family, where he studied Philosophy and Letters and Teaching. He was dedicated to teaching (Director of the San Isidoro School, teacher at the School of Tourism of Zaragoza, Professor of Geography and History at the Miguel Servet Institute and at the Labor University of Zaragoza). In 1977 he was elected deputy for the Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE/Spanish Socialist Worker's Party) in the Constituent Cortes. He was also political secretary of the permanent committee of the Assembly of Parliamentarians of Aragon. Moreover, he held the position of vice president in the first Government of Aragon (1978‑79). In the professional field, he was Dean of the Illustrious Official Association of Doctors and Graduates in Philosophy and Letters and in Sciences (1973-1983), where he carried out a great work of recovery and study of Aragonese subjects. He organized the Federación de Colegios Profesionales de Aragón (Federation of Professional Associations of Aragon), which held the Congress of Aragonese Studies in 1976 and of which he was elected President. He was also a member of the Board of the University of Zaragoza.
