Sánchez de León graduated in Law from the University of Madrid, and joined the Superior Body of Labor Inspectors and Social Security in 1960, being the head of the Labor Inspection and Provincial Delegate of the Institute of Emigration in Pamplona, passing then to the Provincial Regional Office of Labor of Orense, Malaga and Guipúzcoa (1961-1967).
As a politician, Sánchez de León was an attorney at the Francoist Courts (1971-1977), Director-General of the Organization of the Social Security, and Director-General of Interior Politics.
Later on, Sánchez de León was a deputy of UCD for the province of Badajoz, even though he was the leader of the Regional Action of Extremadura (AREX), in the Constituent Legislature (1977-1979) being re-elected in the I Legislature. Moreover, in this Legislature he was the Minister of Public Health and Social Security.
According to its profesional career, Sánchez de León was the president of the Administration Council of CAMPSA, and in 1982 he set up his own lawyers office. Sánchez de León was awarded several times, for example with the Grand Cross of the Order of Carlos III (1979) and Freeman of Badajoz (2016).

Se licenció en Derecho en la Universidad de Madrid, y ingresó en el Cuerpo Superior de Inspectores de Trabajo y Seguridad Social en 1960, siendo Je de la Inspección de Trabajo y Delegado Provincial del Instituto de Emigración en Plamplona, pasando luego a las Delegaciones Provinciales de Trabajo de Orense, Málaga y Guipúzcoa (1961-1967).
En su faceta como político fue procurador de las Cortes Franquistas (1971-1977), Director General de Ordenación de la Seguridad Social y Director General de Política Interior.
Posteriormente, fue diputado por la provincia de Badajoz por UCD (aunque era el líder de Acción Regional Extremeña - AREX) en la Legislatura Constituyente (1977-1979) y reelegido en la I Legislatura. En la primera de ellas fue Ministro de Sanidad y Seguridad Social.
En su faceta profesional, fue presidente del Consejo de Adminsitración de CAMPSA y en 1982 fundó su propio bufete de abogados.
Obtuvo diferentes distinciones como la Gran Cruz de la Orden de Carlos III (1979) y Hijo Predilecto de Badajoz (2016).
