Correspondencia del Gobernador de Luisiana.
Legajo 188. 1770. Correspondencia nacional y extranjera entre el gobernador de la Luisiana y varias autoridades Extranjeras. B, 23 cm., 500 documents. The letters are scattered through the entire year. The legajo comprises correspondence in french directed to the governor of Luisiana. The legajo consists of the following series of correspondence:
(a) To Luis de Unzaga, governor of Luisiana, from François Allain, Punta Cortada; Bellisle, Alemanes; Luis Bormé, Natchitoches; Honorato Delachaise, Baliza; Luis Dessalles, Baliza; Charles Descoudreaux, Baliza; Elias Durnford, Panzacola (in english); Luis Dutisné, Iberville; Luis Judice, Cabahannosé; Atanasio de Mézières, Natchitoches (in spanish); Nolivos, Puerto Principe; Luis Saint Ange, San
Luis; and Nicolás Verret, Cabahannosée. (b) Drafts of Unzaga to the above individuals. (c) Alejandro O¿Reilly to Atanasio de Mézières (twenty orders, in spanish and french, jan. 17-feb. 19). (d) Nº 2. Correspondances. Letter-book of O¿Reilly to various subordinates (dec. 26, 1769-jan., 1770, in french; folios 11-24). (e) Letters of Marqués de Osuna, Madrid, to Marqués de Grimaldi; and Pedro Piernas, San Luis, to Francisco Vallé. Items of interest: Reports on crops at various posts; general printed instructions for police regulation and administration of justice in Luisiana, issued by O¿Reilly, with manuscript additions for Valentin Layssard at the end; petition of merchants of Luisiana to Antonio de Ulloa, regarding commerce; Coppie des ordonances rendues pour le maintient de la police dans le poste des Natchitoches, by Atanasio de Mézières (Jan.21); census of 'Côte du bas du fleuve a commence depuis l¿habitation de Mme. veuve Lachaise jusques aux environs de la prairie aux Moucle¿¿; proclamation of O¿Reilly regarding the practice of medicine; and census of the acadians of the parish of Ascensión.
