Legajo 217. 1800, [1768, 1770, 1777-1781, 1797, 1799, 1808]. Correspondencia nacional y extranjera entre los gobernadores de las Floridas y varias autoridades extranjeras. B, 31 cm., 700 documents. Most of the legajo is of the year 1800, all the months being represented. There are only a few documents for the other years noted. The documentation is badly disorganized, and is mostly in english and french. The legajo contains the following series of correspondence:
(a) Letters to Marqués de Casa Calvo, governor of Luisiana, from César Archinard, Rápido; Guillermo Duparc, Punta Cortada; Martín Duralde, Opelousas; Vicente Fernández Tejeiro, La Fourche; Juan Filhiol, Ouachita; Valentin Layssard, Rápido; Antonio Saint Amand, Alemanes; and Carlos de Vilemont, Arkansas. (b) Drafts of letters of Casa Calvo to Archinard, Duparc, Saint Amand, Tejeiro, and Vilemont. (c) Letters to Carlos Dehault Delassus from Luis Lorimier, Cabo Girardeau; Santiago Mackay, San Andrés; Enrique Peyroux, Nuevo Madrid; and Francisco Vallée, Santa Genoveva. (d) Letters to: 1778, George Troup, Mobila, from Jorge Alexander, Panzacola; James Amoss, Panzacola; Elías Durnford, Panzacola; Juan Falconer and co., Panzacola; Graham and Simpson, London; John McIntosh, Chickasaw nation; William Ogilvy, Panzacola; David Troup, London; Dan Ward, Fish river; and William Wilton, Panzacola (this is a collection of private and business letters in english, together with bills and receipts, which seems to have been captured at the taking of Mobila in 1781). (e) Letters of Carlos Dehault Delassus, San Luis, to Luis Lorimier; Dehault Delassus to Enrique Peyroux; James Durouzeaux, Coweitta, to Vicente Folch; Folch, Panzacola, to John Galphin; Folch to the Seminoles; Benjamin Hawkins, Coweta, to Folch; Alejandro McGillivray, Pequeño Talassie, to Arturo O¿Neill; and Casa Calvo, Nueva Orleans, to Mr. Verret (drafts). (f) Letter-book of Francisco Vallée, Santa Genoveva, to various persons. Subjects treated: Indian affairs and Bowles (most important); lists of deserters from United States army; notices regarding Felipe Nolan; claims for the capture of the schooner Shark, laden with provisions for the boundary commission; and lists of foreigners. Special items: Means for establishing a colony at bahía San Bernardo; 1768, history of the difficulties of Vilemont and Vaugine; 1797, Estado militar de Nuevo Madrid; 1799, 'Journal des observations faites dans le voyage du bateau du roy, Le Castor¿¿ (jan. 9-31); 1800, notes regarding the arrival and sojourn of Enrique Peyroux in Luisiana (sept. 27); list of irish-american immigrants at Rápido (nov. 20); and plan of a survey made at Mine à Breton
