Correspondencia de los comandantes de los puestos de La Fourche y Baliza, José García Capetillo y Tomás Allo, a los intendentes Juan Ventura Morales y Ramón de López y Angulo, relativos a entradas y salidas de buques.
Legajo 580. 1796-1811. Correspondencia de oficio. (Luisiana 93.) B, 54 cm., 1400 letters. The correspondence of the legajo covers the years 1796-1811, arranged in the order indicated below. The legajo comprises the following series of correspondence:
(a) 1801-1803. Letters of José Garcia Capetillo and Tomás Allo, commandants of the posts at La Fourcha and Baliza, respectively, to the intendants of Luisiana, Juan Ventura Morales and Ramón de López y Angulo. This series forms about one-half of the legajo; the letters are all numbered and fairly well in order. Most of these letters are merely notices of the entrance of vessels into the passes of the Mississippi, many of which are accompanied by the report and manifest of the cargo and the clearance papers of the ships. (b) 1799-1805. Letters of Juan Lavallée, guarda-almacén of Nuevo Madrid, to Morales and López y Angulo, together with the drafts of their replies. These are numbered and arranged in two folders, labelled 'Guarda-Almacén, Nuevo Madrid¿¿. The letters deal mainly with the subjects of finances and supplies for the post. (c) 1796-1804. Letters of Pedro Philibert, Placaminas, to Morales and López y Angulo, together with some drafts of replies. These are numbered and arranged in three folders, labelled 'Guarda-Almacén de Placaminas¿¿ Many of these letters are nothing more than notes of transmission of the many reports made to the intendants, including, especially, those of the sup.plies on hand and the lists of vessels entering and departing from the Mississippi. These reports are all present. (d) 1797-1810. Letters of Juan Bautista Bermudez, Gilberto Leonard, Francisco Miranda, and Miguel Morales, all of Baton Rouge, to Juan Ven. tura Morales, together with some of the drafts of the replies. These letters relate entirely to routine matters connected with the royal warehouse at Baton Rouge. (e) 1806-1811. Letters of Eulogio de Casas, Pensacola, to Juan Ventura Morales. These are routine letters of slight importance
