Correspondencia del Intendente Juan Ventura Morales con los oficiales de la Contaduría.
Legajo 611. 1799-1806. Correspondencia de oficio. (Luisiana 124.) B, 33 cm., 800 letters. The legajo comprises the following series of correspondence:
(a) 1800, jan.-oct. Letters of Gilberto Leonard, Nueva Orleans, to Ramón de López y Angulo, intendant of Luisiana. These are numbered and are in order in a folder. They treat wholly of financial matters. (b) 1802. Oficios de los ministros de Nueva Orleans. Nos. 1-61. Letters of Gilberto Leonard and Manuel Armírez, treasurer and contador at Nueva Orleans, to Juan Ventura Morales, intendant of Luisiana. Arranged in one folder. Treat of routine financial matters. (c) 1802. Drafts of letters of Juan Ventura Morales to the ministros de real hacienda. Arranged in folders for each month. Treat of routine financial matters. For each month there is an 'arca¿¿ (monthly balance sheet of the treasury). (d) 1804. Contaduría de ejército de Nueva Orleans, oficios desde el nº 106 al 153. Letters of Armírez and Leonard to Morales. Arranged in order in one folder. Financial. (e) 1804, jan.-july. Original letters and their drafts of Morales to the ministros de real hacienda. These are in order in folders for each month. Mixed in the series are a few letters to Morales from marqués de Casa Calvo, Francisco Collell, and Manuel García. Most of these letters deal with the routine matters connected with the treasury and the intendancy. The following important subjects were noted: Monthly statements of the receipts and disbursements of the treasury; supplies for the posts of the province and for the indians; transmission of dispositions of Casa Calvo; transfer of Luisiana to the french; and the insurrection at Nueva Feliciana
