The dates of the letters run from sept., 1782, to jan., 1785, most of them being of 1783. The legajo consists of three sections corresponding to the headings and arranged in order. The french series comprises letters written from Martinica; nothing relating to the United States was noted here. The english series covers the whole period. It comprises letters from governor Archibald Campbell, of Jamaica, admiral Robert Digby and others, to Luis de Unzaga, captain general of Cuba, accompanied by spanish, translations and drafts of replies. The United States material consists of three letters of Campbell (apr. and june, 1783) dealing with the american privateer Dolphin. There are also notices regarding the definitive treaty of peace and the exchange of prisoners
