B, 33 cm., 550 documents. All of the items listed above are present; the last contains nothing relating to the United States. The letters relating to the United States are scattered through the period from apr., 1797, to may, 1799. They are arranged by months within the two groups; the letters of each governor are together within the months. The material relating to the United States consists of letters to conde de Santa Clara, captain general of Cuba, from:

Some of the foregoing letters are accompanied by drafts of replies, and there are some other drafts of the captain general to the governors. Subjects treated by White: 1798, situado; relations with the americans on the Florida frontier; plan of the United States and England to seize Florida. By Carondelet: 1797, rumored attack on Luisiana by the english from Canadá. By Gayoso de Lemos: 1797, events at Natchez; Ellicott; commission of Tomás Power; 1798, relations with Kentucky; designs of the United States against Luisiana; movements of United States troops; visit of the Duke of Orleans to Luisiana. Most of the letters of all the governors transmit petitions and military reports, and acknowledge the receipt of royal orders and correspondence. The extra drafts transmit reales órdenes.
