The major portion of the material relating to the United States consists of letters to the conde de Santa Clara, from Carlos Martínez de Irujo, Filadelfia (apr., 1796-sept., 1799), with drafts of replies. Subjects treated: Boundary between United States and spanish territory; relations of the United States and France; projected attack of England upon Luisiana. There are also a few letters to Santa Clara, from Esteban Decatur; Diego Morphy, Charleston; Timoteo Pickering (commerce of the United States and Cuba); and Isaac Phillips, fragata Baltimore.
