Legajo 1570. 1811, [1809]. Correspondencia con el Gobernador de la Florida. (Someruelos 37; Capitanes Generales 522.) B, 31 cm., 465 documents. The letters cover the months of May-Dec., 1811, with one for Aug., 1809. They are arranged in order by months, those of each series being separate. Most of the letters of Folch and San Maxent are in duplicate. The legajo consists of letters to Marqués de Someruelos, captain general of Cuba, from:
1811, May 14-Dec. 13. Juan José Estrada, governor of Florida, nos. 7-40, 42-45, 47-82. Series continued in legajos 1571, 1789; see legajo 1569. 1811, May 1-June 18. Vizente Folch, commandant of Pensacola, nos. 1096-1109; and no. 799 (Aug. 11, 1809). See legajos 1550-1552, 1555-1569. Numeration continued by San Maxent below. 1811, May 11-Dec. 17. Francisco Maximiliano de San Maxent, com mandant of Pensacola, nos. 1110-1173, 1175, 1176, 1178-1183. Series continued in legajos 1571, 1797. Some of the above letters are accompanied by drafts of replies, and there are some other drafts of the captain general to the above officials. Subjects treated by Estrada: Attitude and movements of the Americans on the border; lack of funds; situado; fugitives from justice from the United States; land grants; petition of Ricardo Raynal [Keene] for a grant of land; Indian gifts.
