Legajo 110. 1769-1771, [1772, 1773, 1776, 1792, 1793, 1795] . Correspondencia de varios jefes y oficiales al Gobernador de la Luisiana. B, 23 cm., 450 documents. The majority of the documents are of 1770 and 1771, there being only a few for the other years indicated. The Mézières documentation is in order, the remainder is disordered. Most of the legajo is in french. The legajo contains:
(a) Letters addressed to Luis de Unzaga, governor of Luisiana, by various subordinates: Antonio José Aguiar, Nueva Orleans; Francisco de Cartabona, Baliza; Jacobo Dubreuil, Baliza; Esteban Gayarre, Nueva Orleans; Fred. Haldimand, Panzacola; Atanasio de Mézières, Natchitoches; Gabriel de Salas, Baliza; and Juan Delavillebeuvre, Baliza. (b) Unzaga to Antonio José de Aguiar (drafts), Esteban Gayarre, Atanasio de Mézières, and Baltasar de Villiers. (c) A few letters of Juan Edwards, Kentucky, to the governor of Luisiana (1801) and some letters of José Deville Degoutin, Tinza (1792). The major part of the legajo is made up of the correspondence of Unzaga and Mézières. Important items: 1769, instructions for the pilot at the bar of the Mississippi, by O¿Reilly; appraisal of public buildings at Nueva Orleans (oct. 31) ; 1770, petition of inhabitants and regulations of O¿Reilly regarding slaves; abstract of regulations for officials exercising marine jurisdiction; royal orders regarding 'el derecho de ancorage, toneladas, limpia, linternas, y demas pertenecientes al Almirantazgo¿¿; list of gifts for the comanches and other indians at Natchitoches; instructions for the traders among the nations Cadaux, Acquioux, and Hiatasses; 1770-1771, lists of cargoes of boats from Illinois and permissions for the same to descend the Mississippi; 1771, instructions for the commandant at Baliza; account of 'los derechos de anclage¿¿ collected, with receipts for the same; explanation of the plan of a church at Natchez; preaching of the bull of the crusade; peace with the Comanches and Apaches; indian relations in general; list of keepers of taverns, lodging-houses, and billiard rooms in Nueva Orleans (jan.4) ; register book of passports granted by the governor (jan. 4-dec. 28) ; inventory of the royal storehouse (Nueva Orleans ?, aug. 22) ; list of persons departing from Luisiana from sept. 2, 1769, to oct. 26, 1771 ; notice of the products of the province of Luisiana (oct. 26) ; and report of wheat harvest and of furs secured in the district of San Luis and shipped to Nueva Orleans (dec. 31).
