Legajo 1565. 1808, [1806, 1807]. Correspondencia con el Gobernador de la Florida. (Someruelos 32; Capitanes Generales 517.) B, 38 cm., 463 documents. The letters cover the months of june-dec., 1808, with one letter each for 1806 and 1807. They are arranged in order by months, those of each series being separate within the months. The reservada series of Folch are in duplicate, and some of the other series are in duplicate and triplicate. The legajo consists of letters to Marqués de Someruelos, captain general of Cuba, from: 1808, june 1-dec. 22. Enrique White, governor of Florida, nos. 1084-1120, 1123-1131 1/2; and nos. 962 (july 21, 1806), 994 (apr. 11, 1807). Series continued in legajos 1566-1569; see legajos 1550-1564. 1808, june 1-dec. 29. Vicente Folch, commandant of Panzacola, nos.609-611, 633-651, 653-688, 690-738, 740, 743-746 (series continued in legajos 1566-1570; see legajos 1550-1552, 1555-1564); and reservada nos. 95, 96, 100-120, 122-124 (series continued in legajos 1566, 1575; missing nº in legajo 1567; see legajos 1560, 1564, 1573, 1574; cf. legajo 225 ww). Some of the above letters are accompanied by drafts of replies, and there are some other drafts of the captain general to the above officials. Subjects treated by White: Insults committed on Saint Mary¿s River by Samuel Elbert, commandant of a United States gunboat; return of the schooner María, seized by Elbert; expulsion of the french from Florida; situado; voluntary subscription for the defense of the mother country; indian gifts. Many of the letters transmit petitions and military reports, acknowledge the receipt of royal orders, and treat of the transfer of soldiers.
