Spanish lawyer, politician and magistrate. Manuel Silvela y García de Aragón's son, who was a Spanish writer and magistrate. Married with María Antonieta Luisa de Le Vielleuze y Sotés. Both had four children: Manuel, Victoria, Luis and Francisco. Three of them held a post in the government of that time.
In 1825, Silvela reached secondary studies in Arts at the Royal Academy of Bordeaux and in 1833, he graduated in Laws from the University of Paris. He was a member of the Universal Statistics Society of Paris, member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and some other illustrious entities of Bordeaux, head of department of Humanities, Modern and Ancient History and Greek Language in several pedagogical establishments, and Honorary member of the Royal Academy of Mathematics and Noble Arts of the Purísima Concepción of Valladolid. After his exile in France and his father's death, he came back to Spain to hold some posts at the administration of that time.
