History:

Fritz Grell was born the 29th of April 1905 (probably in 1906) in Denison (probably in Buck Grove), Iowa. He worked as mechanic. He was a member of the Communist Party since 1933. He sailed from the United States on the 26th of May 1937 aboard the "Vollendam". He was arrested on the 20th of June 1937 when the vessel he was travelling on to Spain, the "Joven Teresa" was intercepted by the French authorities. He arrived in Spain on the 27th of June 1937.He returned to the United States on the 20th of July 1938 aboard the "Champlain". He died on November 1983.
