History:

Dr. William Winston Pike was born on April 17 (probably on April 07), 1904, in New York City. He attended Rush Medical College and the University of Chicago, graduated 1932. He was doctor psychoanalyst. Since May 1936, he was a member of the Communist Party of the United States of America (CPUSA)

He arrived in Spain on January 25, 1937, and served with the Republican Medical Services. His last post was as 35th Division, in the 15th International Brigade, in the General Staff and in the Sanitary Section as the Chief Medical Officer with the rank Captain.

On November 6, 1940, he married with Edith Mattis, whom with he had two children, Peri L. Pike and Steven J. Pike. He was a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, and during the Second World War, he fought with the US Armed forces.

Pike was a psychoanalyst who dedicated his life to the profession and humanitarian causes. He died on April 26, 2000, at 86 years old.
