Robert Baker was a British photography director, film director and producer.
He served as artilleryman in the British army during Second World War in North Africa, where he met his partner Monty Berman. He joined the cinema and photography unit of the army, becoming combat camerman in Europe. When the war finished, him and Berman founded the Tempean Films to film movies. Their first movie was "Date with a dream" (1948). At the beginning of his career, they made low cost movies until they slowly inverted more in movies he directed himself, like "13 East Street" (1952), "The hellfire club" (1961) "The treasure of Monte Cristo" (1961) or "The saint" (1962), which had a remake in 1997. His last period was dedicated to television.
He died the 30th September 2009 in England at the age of 92.
