Exiled Spanish writer who was born in Granada in 1906. He came from a family of a good economic, cultural and intelectual position. He started studying in Granada. Due to an economic crisis in his family, they moved to Madrid, where he finished his higher secondary-education course in San Isidro High School. He studied Laws in University while doing some administrative jobs. His firsts writings were influenced by the Generation of '98 and later by the Generation of '27. He published his first novel at the age of 18.

He was granted a scholarship to study Political Science one year in Germany, where he wrote the first article about nazism that was published in Spain. He met his wife in Berlin and got married. When he return to Spain in 1932, he got a place as Secretary of the Cortes and the Chair of Political Sciences in the University of Madrid in 1934, while working at the same time in "El Sol" newspaper. He was giving a speech in Argentina when the Spanish Civil War started, and when he return to Madrid, he worked in the Ministery of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation dealing with international relationships. He went to Paris, France, two days before the fall of Barcelona. He, his wife and his dauhgter moved to Argentina because he did not believe in the Republic's restoration. They lived there for 10 years, and worked as professor of Sociology in University and wrote for different publishing houses and newspapers. With the development of Peronism, he decided to leave Argentina and moved to Puerto Rico, where other Spanish collegues helped him to join the University. He was also in charge of the University publishing house and founded "La Torre" magazine. After six years, he settled in the USA and worked in Princeton University, among others. He returned to Spain in the sixties, but traveled among the two continents until his death.
