History:

Spanish industrial trader who was exiled. He was member of an upper-middle class family and son of a land register. He was born in Cebreros (Ávila) and had two brothers. His family was a lefty liberal one and secular. He studied in the International Institute of Madrid and later studied Laws in the "Universidad Central de Madrid". He joined the "Federación Universitaria Escolar" (FUE) and the Socialist Youth of Spain. He got married in 1937 and served during the Spanish Civil War in the "Largo Caballero" Number 2 battalion, and later in the "Fernando de Rosa" battalion as Commander. He was at the front in Teruel, among others. When he was at the front in Madrid, he was in contact with the International Brigades and volunteered as translator. When the rebel troops entered Madrid, Campos took shelter in Salvador embassy first and then in the Chile embassy, where he stayed one year and wrote the "Luna" magazine. His family went to France the 16th July 1939, and met him in Orleáns, from where they headed to Mexico.

However, he went to Portugal some days later, where he was arrested for five days. Thanks to the Chile Ambassador, he got to the Brazil embassy in Lisbon and went to Brazil on board "Cullabá" ship. He travelled many American countries until he finally arrived to Mexico the 4th December 1940. He met his family in Monterrey and, in March 1941, they became Mexican citizens. They moved to Mexico City and he worked there as sales clerk, printing proofreader, in Foreign Trade and finally in Smith Kline laboratories until he retired.
