Spanish exile in Mexico. Barjau was deputy of the Provisional Government of Catalunya for the district of Barcelona-Badalona-San Adrián-Santa Coloma (1931) and deputy of USC-PSOE for Barcelona (1933). He worked as a barber and a public worker of the Government of Catalonia. Barjau was married and he spoke French. He's Helenio and Eliseo Barjau Vallmitjana's father. He considered himself as anarchist, and due to his syndicalist activity, he went into exile to France (1913-1916). Barjau was arrested under the Law of Jurisdictions (1918-1921). He lived in Barcelona and Reus, where he became the editor of the newspaper "Fructidor". Barjau also was a member of the Government Board of Cases de Caritata i de Maternitata i Expósits of Barcelona, and the administrator of the newspaper "Hoja Oficial del Lunes". Barjau joined UGT, and worked as the president of the Public Workers Association of Catalonia. Member of the United Socialist Party of Catalonia or PSUC, Barjau was elected secretary of La Moral Cooperative. During the Spanish Civil War, he headed the Federation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, and was the representative of the Ministry of Economics of Catalonia. Barjau was in asylum, and travelled along with his three children Eliseo, Blanca and Everest (14, 6 and 3-years-old respectively). Barjau was assisted by SERE. Firstly, he went into exile to France, and stayed in Chez Louis Arnaud and Coutitier Montagnac Herault. Later on, he moved to Veracruz (Mexico) aboard the Sinaia.
