Spanish exiled in Mexico. Married. Father of Juan (1906-¿) and Constancio (1907-¿) Bernaldo de Quirós y Villanueva. Husband of María Villanueva de Bernaldo de Quirós. Father-in-law of María del Carmen de Bernaldo de Quirós (wife of his son Juan). He speaks French and Italian. Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology, writer, sociologist, jurist and teacher. Key figure of the Spanish Regenerationism. Graduated in Law by the Central University of Madrid. He joined the chair of Philosophy of Law directed by Francisco Giner de los Ríos. He collaborated at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza (Free Teaching Institute). Feature writer in the Revista General de Legislación y Jurisprudencia (General Journal of Legislation and Jurisprudence). He published, among others, “Una polémica sobre la moralidad del delito”. He collaborated with Llamas Aguilaniedo. Professor of Criminology at the Institute of Criminal Studies. He was a professor at the Central University of Madrid and at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. Professor of Sociology and Psychology at the Escuela de la Mujer (School of Women) linked with the Institución Libre de Enseñanza.
He had been practising law and he wrote the draft penal code (1902) at the request of the minister Juan Montilla (although it did not become a reality). Editor of a great part of the legislative agrarian production of the Spanish Second Republic.
Mountain climber and alpinist. He founded and headed the Club of Alpinism Peñalara. He wrote works such as: “Peñalara. Notas de camino por la Sierra de Guadarrama”.
When the Spanish Civil War was over, he went into exile to France (he travelled with his wife, children and grandchildren), where he lived in a shelter for indigents. He moved to the Dominican Republic on board of the ship De la Salle. Political refugee in Mexico. Coming from Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), he managed to get into Merida. The means of transport used is unknown. According to the file of the Mexican Migration Service, the reference person is his son, Juan Bernaldo de Quirós (with residence, Zamora Street, 80. Mexico D.F.)
He continued with his activity in America. He was a professor of Criminology and Comparative Criminal Law at the University of Santo Domingo. Professor of Criminal Law in Havana. Professor of Criminology and Penitentiary Law at the UNAM of Mexico.
In the exile, he published, among others, “La picota en América”.
He was appointed an academic member of the Mexican Academy of Legal Sciences. Honorific member of the National Institute of Criminology of Cuba and the Institute of Criminal Sciences of Havana.

He went into the Dominican Republic when he was 66 years old on board of the ship De La Salle (1940-02-23). Lawyer and professor. Married. He lived in the city of Santo Domingo.
