History:

Spanish politician, writer and Cervantes scholar. His parents were French merchants and he entered with a scholarship to San Fulgencio. From a young age, he had a good relationship with the illustrated characters of cities like Valencia and Murcia. He was government representative in the Cortes for the province of Murcia, secretary of the Royal Academy of History, and librarian of the King. He was also membership number of the Greco-Latin Royal Academy and Magistrate Minister of the Treasury Department.

He got married to Dámasa Soriano de Velasco in 1798, and they were parents to Andrés María Clemencín. He was lawyer of the Royal Councils and accountant of the former Ministry of Education.

He held relevant public offices during the Trienio Liberal (Liberal Triennium) and was a passionate Cervantes scholar, although his comments were centred around Don Quixote. As an historian he handled plenty of documentation from the General Archive of Simancas to elaborate "El Elogio de Isabel la Católica".
