History:

Spanish politician, writer and Cervantes scholar. He was parliamentary deputy by the province of Murcia, secretary of the Royal Academy of History, and librarian of the king. He was also membership number of the Greco-Latin Royal Academy and Magistrate Minister of the Treasury Department.

He got married with Dámasa Soriano de Velasco in 1798 and they were the parents of Andrés María Clemencín, lawyer of the Royal Councils and accountant of the General Inspection of the Public Instruction.

He held relevant public offices during the Trienio Liberal (“Liberal Triennium”) and was a passionate Cervantes scholar although his comments were centred around El Quijote. As a historian he handled plenty of documentation from the General Archive of Simancas to elaborate El Elogio de Isabel la Católica.
