History:

She was a Spanish librarian.

She coursed her A Level in Cartagena and she studied Philosophy and Literature at the University of Murcia and Madrid. In 1930, she joined the Corps of Archivists, Librarians and Archeologists and she was assigned to the Spanish National Library where she worked until her retirement in 1979. During the time she worked there, she took over the Printing Department organizing many expositions and publishing the respective catalogue. She was a member of the Hispanic Society of America located in New York and she was awarded with the bow of Alfonso X, The Wise. Her daughter, Elena Santiago Páez, was a librarian too and she held various positions in the Spanish National Library, becoming chief of the service of drawings and engravings from 1986 until 2004, when she retired.
