Fuentes Isla, Benito (1883-?)

Benito Fuentes Isla was a Spanish archivist and priest. He graduated in Philosophy and Literature, History Section, from the Central University of Madrid. He joined the Corps of Archivists, Librarians, and Archaeologists in 1913. One year later he joined the Archivo Histórico Nacional (AHN; National Historical Archive), taking charge of the Sections of Inquisition, Sigilography and Universities. In 1942 he was appointed Archives Inspector and in this position he wrote the instructions for the organization of the archives of the Provincial Treasury Delegations. In 1945, when director Gómez del Campillo retired, he was appointed AHN Director. He held this position until his retirement in 1953.
