History:

Spanish politician and noble. Count of Mejorada del Campo and Duke of las Torres. He was the second son of Ignacio Figueroa y Mendieta and Ana Josefa de Torres y Romo, marquises of Villamejor. Brother of Francisca, Álvaro (count of Romanones), José (Viscount de Irueste) and Rodrigo (Duke of Tovar). He studied the baccalaureate at San Isidro High School in Madrid. He was elected deputy to Cortes for Baeza in the 1891 elections. He became Mayor of Madrid in 1904. He was senator for the province of Guadalajara on several occasions and also life senator. He was one of the founders of Banco Español de Crédito and knight of the Order of Santiago.
