Spanish lawyer and senator. María Dolores Pelayo Duque was a member of the Tenerife and Madrid Bar Associations. She specialized in legal issues related to women and she was the founder of the Canarian Delegation of the Asociación Española de Mujeres Juristas (Spanish Association of Women Jurists) representing Spain in the International Federation of Women in Legal Professions. Pelayo Duque was senator for Tenerife in the Constituent Parliamentary term (1977‑1979) for the social democratic party in the parliamentary group of Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union of Democratic Centre). Afterwards, she was a parliamentary deputy during five terms, from I to V (1979‑1996). In addition, she was councilwoman and municipal spokesperson in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from 1987 to 1991. She was a member of the Federal Committee of the Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE/Spanish Socialist Worker's Party) and the Board of Directors of Club Siglo XXI.
