History:

Spanish politician and doctor in industrial engineering. In his professional activity he was engaged with housing management and various companies. During the Franco regime he was linked to the Minister for Housing Vicente Mortes Alfonso, and he was a delegate of that Ministry in the Balearic Islands (1970) as well as director of the del Instituto Nacional para la Calificación de la Edificación (National Institute for the Qualification of Building) (1971-1973). With the outbreak of the democratic transition, he was a member of the Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union of Democratic Centre), where he belonged to the so‑called 'Jóvenes Turcos' (Young Turks) sector. Francesc Garí was UCD deputy for the Balearic Islands in the Constituent Parliamentary terms (1977-1979) and in the I (1979-1982) parliamentary term.
