History:

Spanish politician and Industrial entrepreneur. Deputy of the Constituent Parliamentary term and Deputy for Barcelona. He married.

At the beginning of the fifties he formed, together with other young people of his same generation (Carlos Ferrer Salat, Joan Más Cantí and Arturo Suqué), the Club Comodín, a cover for civil activism. The contact with academics such as Jaume Vicens Vives and Fabián Estapé as well as with young politicians outside the walls of the system, such as Jordi Pujol, resulted in an incomparable and influential institution of which they were the first four presidents: the Círculo de Economía, an atypical institution in Spain, formed by businessmen, managers, academics, and professionals who are united only by their concern for the common good and progress. He was the founder of the Centre Català in 1976, a party for which, jointly with Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union for Democratic Centre), was the head of the list. He was also deputy for Barcelona. And he participated actively in the preparation of the Statute of Sau and in the first democratic City Council of Barcelona.

Carlos Güell received the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1994 and the Medal of Honor from the city of Barcelona in 2007. He was the great‑grandson of Eusebi Güell, the businessman and patron who gave name to several buildings designed by Gaudí.
