History:

Spanish politician and deputy director of Caja Provincial de Ahorros of Cuenca. He could not finish his studies because he was called up during the Spanish Civil War in the Coastal Artillery Corps in Cádiz. Martínez Soriano was raised and instructed in the Casa de la Beneficiencia and he joined the Caja de Ahorros of Cuenca when he was very young, temporarily in 1946 and as a permanent staff since 1948. He served as Secretary‑General until he was appointed Deputy Director in 1978. In the new reorganization of the Caja, already converted into Caja de Ahorros of Cuenca and Ciudad Real, Martínez Soriano was appointed Director‑General from 1984 to 1986.

In the political sphere, he was councilor of Cuenca Town Council in the pre‑democratic stage and a strong promoter of Holy Week. He was appointed Commissioner of festivals and of the Week of religious music in Cuenca by the Ministry of Information and Tourism. His link to Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union of Democratic Centre) began in the 1977 elections, in which he was presented as Deputy for Cuenca during the constituent parliamentary term.

Journalism was another of his great passions; he founded Medalla de medallas and La Voz de la Caja. He created the pseudonym 'Julián del Júcar' for many of his articles on Cuenca and Holy Week.

He received numerous awards, including the Silver Medal to the trade‑union merit in 1970, 'Caballero de Cisneros' Cross in 1973, Commends of Cisneros in 1977, the Constitutional Merit Medal (Medalla al Mérito Constitucional) in 1988 and Merit for Savings (Medalla al Mérito en el Ahorro) granted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 1989.
