Spanish lawyer, politician, and writer. He took part in the Spanish Civil War by volunteering, at the age of 15, in the Carlist corps 'Ortíz de Zarate' and participating in the Battle of the Ebro and the campaign of Catalonia. When the battle ended he returned to Portugalete, working at city council of the town. He graduated in Law from the University of Zaragoza and he practiced this profession in his own law firm, combining it with his political activity and his facet as a writer.
In the 1977 elections for the Constituent Legislature, he was elected representative of Alianza Popular (AP/people's Alliance) for Bizkaia, being the only deputy of this formation in all the Basque Country. In October of that year he moved to Madrid because of threats from ETA.
Pedro de Mendizábal is the author of works such as Meditación Política, Fray Juan de la Hispanidad, Zumárraga apuntes para ensayos, Vasco de cumbres or Flor de Raza. Within the field of poetry, he wrote Cosas de mi España and Aura y luz. He also collaborated in the newspaper Hierro.
