History:

Spanish businessman and politician.

Degree in Political and Economic Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. Technical Engineer of Mines in Bilbao. Degree in Journalism from the Official School of Journalism and Degree in Foreign Trade from the CEU University.

He worked in the Spanish Society of Naval Construction; CEO of SERCON S.A.; President of the Spanish Transport Agency; Promoter and Executive President of the Group of Companies and Horizonte S.A.; Executive President of Bolsas Internacional Financiera, S.A.; Adviser of POLHIS; and Adviser of LIMASA.

In 1974 he founded the civic movement of social democratic ideology Causa Ciudadana, of which he was president. In 1976 he created the social democratic bloc, which was later integrated into Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD/Union of Democratic Centre), and he became part of the Democratic Socialist Federation. In 1977 he founded, together with Francisco Fernández Ordóñez, the Partido Social‑Demócrata (Social Democratic Party). In that same year he was elected UCD Deputy for Granada in the Constituent Parliamentary term and Vice President of the Finance and Budget Committee in the Constituent Parliamentary term, Adviser to the President of the Government (1977‑1978) and Principal Deputy Assistant to the Second Vice President (1978‑1979).

He was awarded the Medal of Constitutional Merit, the Command of Alfonso X the Wise and the Medal of the Council of Granada.

He left politics after the dissolution of UCD in 1983, with an ephemeral return in the 1994 regional elections without obtaining a seat. When leaving politics, he lived in Seville and he was dedicated to the business world, being elected in 1993 president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Seville.

In his facet as a journalist he was a columnist for the newspaper Granada Hoy, President of Editorial Sevillana and a participant in Canal Sur.
