History:

Spanish politician and chartered accountant.

Miguel Núñez González began his political activity in 1935 as a member of Juventud Socialista Unificada (Unified Socialist Youth) and of the University Federation of Schools. He was a militiaman of Culture and Political Commissar of Compañía en el Ejército Republicano (Company in the Republican Army), where he enlisted in the first days of the Spanish Civil War. Throughout the period of Franco's dictatorship he maintained his political militancy clandestinely, occupying various positions of responsibility in the leadership of the Partido Socialista Unificado de Cataluña (PSUC/Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia), in particular that of political leader of Barcelona. Núñez González was in five War Councils and he was sentenced to fifty‑five years in prison, of which he served seventeen and a half years in the jails of Spain and three of exile in France. With the beginning of the democratic transition, he was a member of the Central Committee and the Executive Committee of the PSUC, of ​​the Central Committee of the Partido Comunista de España (Communist Party of Spain), and head of the PSUC Office of Parliamentarians.

He was also PSUC deputy for Barcelona in the Constituent Assembly (1977‑79) and in the I (1979‑1982) parliamentary term.
