Spanish politician and public administration technical expert.

Josep María Obiols I Germà graduated in Geological Sciences and he also is a documentation technician and professor.

He is known as Raimon Obiols because it was his name in hiding. He began his political activity in 1957 during his university stage and he was a member of the clandestine Moviment Socialista de Catalunya. He also created the Sindicat Democrátic D'Estudiants (Democratic Student Union) of the University of Barcelona, ​​which caused him several arrests and two stays in prison. From there, he participated in the creation of Convergència Socialista de Catalunya (CSC). He also contributed to the unification of the Catalan socialist organizations in the Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC‑PSOE, 1978).

Obiols I Germà was PSC-PSOE deputy for Barcelona in the Constituent Parliamentary terms (1977‑1979) and I term (from 1979 to 1980, year in which he was discharged), and for PSOE in the II term (1982-1984, in which he was discharged). He resigned from his positions as a member of the executive committee and of the electoral committee of the PSC in January 1979. He was elected Catalan regional deputy in 1984, 1988 and 1992, President of the Socialist Group in the Catalan assembly and deputy in the European Parliament (1999).
