Valle Menéndez, Antonio del (1923-2016)

Spanish entrepreneur, mining engineer and politician. Valle is considered as a relevant entrepreneur in the Constituent Legislature, replacing the agriculture by the mining industry in the escarpment of León of the Cantabrian Range. He studied mining engineering in Madrid and then he worked with the Coal of Leon and the Basque Country. Later on he moved to Germany to study coal exploitation techniques (1950). The following year he obtained an awarding to establish companies in Portland, and finally set up a cement company in La Robla.
In the 60's, Vallejo was a member of the Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Leon, president of the IV Commission of the Economic-Syndical Council of Duero and president of the Administrative Council of the Industrial Bank of León. Regarding politics, Vallejo was the president of the Council of León (1964-1970), civil governor of Tenerife and deputy of Popular Alliance for Leon in the Constituent Legislature (1977-1979). He also wrote several works and was awarded with the Medal of Gold of Leon (province) in 1972, and was named Entrepeneur of the Year of Leon (1992).
