US film producer and director. Known for his comedies and epic films. He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. In 1914, he founded the motion picture and distribution company Players Lasky, which produced "The Half-Breed ", the best feature film of Hollywood. Some DeMille's works as a director are "Sanson and Dalila" (1949), "The Ten Commandments" (1956) or The Greatest Show on Earth (1952).
