History:

US scripter and film director and producer. He collaborated several times with John Ford (1894-1973). He won an Oscar for best adapted script thanks to "The Informer" (1935). He also filmed three films as a director, "Government Girl" (1943), "Sister Kenny" (1946) and "Mourning Becomes Electra" (1947).
