French printer, publisher and bookseller.
He developed his career in Pamplona, Logroño, Toledo, Valladolid, and finally, in Alcalá de Henares. The Cardinal Cisneros asked him to print the Complutensian Polyglot Bible. While he was working in Alcalá, he set up the printing house of the bulls of the Monastery of Nuestra Señora del Prado, where he worked from 1514 to 1519, and of the convent of San Pedro Mártir of Toledo, this time from 1518 to 1521. Both printing houses focused on the printing of the Bull of the Crusade. Arnao de Brocar was one of the most relevant printers of the Renaissance, honored by the King Charles V with the title of Royal Typographer. His son Juan was honored as well with the same title later on.
