US producer and film director. During the First World War he served in the Navy and after that he worked at Metro Studios, which later became Metro‑Goldwyn‑Mayer. In Metro he worked as an assistant director and also acted in some films. During the 20s he was hired by Columbia Pictures, where he worked as a director, scriptwriter, and producer. Some of his works as director are "Rough House Rosie" (1927) and "The Valparaiso Story" (1951).
