Spanish archaeologist, Arabist, and professor. Vice rector of the Universidad de Valencia.
In 1893, he joined the Corps of Specialist Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists, being assigned to the Archivo de Hacienda in Valencia and, after a brief stay, to that of Toledo. In 1896, he was transferred to the Archivo Histórico Nacional where he remained until returning to Valencia. When the Spanish Civil War began, he collaborated in the protection of artistic heritage. He resigned from the vice-rectorship of the University in 1937 due to health problems to take charge of the direction of the Sección Filológica of the Instituto de Estudios Valencianos. He was mobilized in August 1938 by the republican government. After the Francoist victory and the purging of those disaffected with the regime, he was separated from his professorship and forcibly retired in October 1940.
