History:

He was a lawyer and a government representative. He studied at the Colegio de San Bartolomé (Cádiz), and he then went to the University of Seville, where he obtained a degree in Philosophy in 1793, and later, at the University of Osuna, he received a doctorate in Civil Law in 1798. He became a lawyer in Seville in 1803.

He lived in the Isla de León from 1807 to 1811. During this time he was an advisor to the local government in 1807 and a member of its board until 1811, as well as an advisor to the General Command of the Navy's registrations in the Department of Cadiz.

He was elected Government Representative of the province of Nicaragua in 1810, although he resigned from his position, being replaced by José Antonio López de la Plata.

In May 1811 he was appointed judge at the Court of Caracas, taking office in December 1812. He became dean of the same institution in 1817. However, in March 1818, he was appointed as regent of the Court of Guatemala and took office in April 1819. On November 24, 1821, he finally quit because of his disagreement with the proclamation of Independence. On that date he went to Cuba, where he requested a position in the magistracy or the Royal Internal Revenue Service of the island. In March 1828 he was appointed regent of the Manila Court, a position he resigned from, reiterating his request for a similar position in Havana. In August 1832 he was appointed Regent of the new Court of Puerto Rico, a position he did accept, although in December of that year he requested a permit to return to Spain due to his bad health conditions, which was granted although it was cancelled shortly thereafter due to the organization of the new Court.
