History:

He was a trader and government representative. He was the son of Pedro Régil Pardo and María de la Cruz Puente Solana. He moved to America and settled in Veracruz where he began to make his fortune; from there he moved to Campeche. In 1805 he married María Francisca Estrada Fuente with whom he had thirteen children.

In 1811 he began his political career as a trustee of the city council of Campeche. In 1813 he was elected government representative of Campeche but he did not take office due to health problems. With the return of liberalism in 1820 he pressed for the recognition of the Constitution of Cadiz and was elected to the Provincial Council of Yucatan. Régil Puente was part of the so-called "camarilla", as opposed to the "liga", two groups of individual with common political interests who united to promote their political careers. He retired from political life in 1825 and returned to Campeche where he worked again as a trader.
