History:

Spanish architect, university professor, and academic.

He was born in Seville on February 20, 1924. He was the son of José María García de Paredes Iraola, an artillery officer, and Elena Barreda Scandella, who was from El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz).

He decided to study architecture influenced by Casto Fernández-Shaw and pursued his studies at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid between 1944 and 1950. He had previously studied preparatory studies in Exact Sciences in Seville between 1941 and 1943. His professional activity was developed in Madrid and other locations in Spain, except for the years he lived in Italy (1956-1958), as winner of the Premio de Roma in 1955. He returned to Spain and specialized mainly in the construction of music auditoriums, such as the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada (1974) and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid (1982). In some of his projects, he collaborated with architects Rafael de La-Hoz and Javier Carvajal. Additionally, he was a professor at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Madrid (1959-1961) and at the Escuela de Sevilla (1976-1979). He was elected as a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in 1984. He married Isabel de Falla, the niece of the composer Manuel de Falla, in 1956 in San Fernando (Cádiz), and they had six children. He passed away in Madrid at the age of 65 in February 1990.
