History:

Spanish actor, writer, poet and dramatical theorist. Son of Mariano Romea Bayona, ranch administrator, and Ignacia Yanguas Prat de Rivera, being one of the 6 siblings Mariano, Florencio, Eduardo, Joaquina and Manuela Romea Yanguas. He was the uncle of the actor Julián Romea Parra.

After the end of the Trienio Liberal (Liberal Triennium) his father had to unwillingly exile to Portugal, so Julian went together with his mum and siblings to Murcia. There, he studied in the San Fulgencio Seminar. The whole family returned to Madrid in 1827, after his father returned to Spain. In 1830, the Music and Theatre Institute (later called Conservatorio de Música y Declamación) had opened up, and he started to attend classes. It is there where he met the actress Matilde Díez to whom he married years later, and together they had a child named Alfredo Romea Díez. Julian died in Madrid at the age of 55, and he is buried along with his wife at the Sacramental Pantheon of San Isidro, Madrid.
