History:

Spanish archivist, historian, and writer.

He received an excellent intellectual education from a very young age, publishing his first literary works before finishing high school. He graduated with an extraordinary prize from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad de Valencia and joined the Corps of Specialist Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists. His first assignment was at the Biblioteca Universitaria in Barcelona, followed by the Biblioteca Provincial and the Archivo de la Delegación de Hacienda in Gerona, and the Archive of the Crown of Aragon. He served as director of this institution during the Spanish Civil War, overseeing the transfer of documents to Viladrau. Confirmed in his position in 1940, he remained director until his retirement in 1961.

In Barcelona, he became involved in the intellectual circles of the early 20th century and adopted Catalan as the language for his literary compositions. In addition to his literary work, he was responsible for several catalogs of the holdings of the Crown of Aragon and the first modern guides to the archive. His historiographical interests focused on the history of the Crown of Aragon during the 14th and 15th centuries. He was a member of the Real Academia de la Historia and the Real Academia de Bellas Letras de Barcelona, among other institutions.
