History:

Capitain of the Armada and Minister of Marine. In 1813 he was elected congressman for the Cortes of Cádiz, and the following year he was inprisioned in the Cortes prision along with other liberal figures of that time.

In 1818 he embarked as second commander of the María Isabel's frigate , when arriving in Talcahuano the Chilean squad stole the frigate as a trophy. In 1820 the viceroy of Peru entrusted him the mission to negotiate peacefully. He was a senator for Cádiz and later Minister of Navy, Commerce and Overseas. He was appointed Secretary of State and of the Navy office, as well as General Captain of the Navy.
