Spanish physician and guitarist.
Baldomero Romero was born in Seville. Brother of José María Romero, a veterinarian, draughtsman and caricaturist, and the father of the painter Baldomero Romero Ressendi and Elisa Romero. He took lessons from Francisco Tárrega. In the town of Utrera (Seville) he compiled fragments of the romance "Gerineldo", an incipit of which was published in the "Romancero tradicional de las lenguas hispánicas" (1976). He met Andrés Segovia at an establishment in Seville and heard him speak of the Cuban guitarist Celedonio Romero.
On April 25, 1934, he wrote to Manuel de Falla from Seville. In his letter, he reminded the composer that they had been introduced by choirmaster Eduardo Torres, and mentioned that he had visited the guitarist Miguel Llobet in Barcelona, back in 1924, hoping to obtain some of his works for guitar. For this reason, he asked Falla if he would allow Llobet to provide those scores, or tell him where he might purchase them. In closing, Romero mentioned that he knew of the composer's busy schedule from the cellist Segismundo Romero Mejías.
The priest Pedro Badanelli dedicated a beautiful triptych of sonnets to him, titled La guitarra, el guitarrista y Baldomero, for an event held in his honour at the Gran Hotel La Fuente in Sanlúcar in August 1930.
