History:

Spanish archivist. Secretary, deputy director, and acting director of the Archivo Histórico Nacional in Madrid.

She graduated in Philosophy and Letters from the Universidad Central in 1955 and was on scholarship at the Escuela de Estudios Medievales of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas between 1956 and 1957. A year later, in 1958, she entered through public examination into the Corps of Specialist Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists. After a month of internship at the General Archive of Simancas (1958) and a brief stay at the Archivo General de Indias (1958-1959), she moved to the Archivo de la Delegación de Hacienda in Madrid in 1960, where she remained until 1969. That year, through a transfer competition, she moved to the Archivo Histórico Nacional (AHN), where she stayed until her retirement in 2002.

Upon her arrival at the AHN, she headed the Servicio de Microfilm until 1971, when she was appointed secretary of the Archive, a position she held until 1986. She then temporarily took over the directorship, a position she later held again. In addition to these roles, she was also in charge of the Sección de Códices y Cartularios, Osuna y Diversos until her retirement in 2002. She was also a board member of the Junta de Calificación, Valoración y Exportación de Bienes del Patrimonio Histórico Español from 1958 to 1992. She passed away in Madrid at the age of 89.
