Martín Vivaldi, Elena (1907-1998)

Spanish archivist, librarian, university teacher and poet.
Her mother, Italian, was Elena Vivaldi Romero, and her father, José Martín Barrales, Gynaecology professor and first republican mayor of Granada.
The first years, she studied in the Colegio "Riquelme", and he did the baccalaureate in the high school "Padre Suárez". He graduated in Teaching, and subsequently obtained the degree in Philosophy and Letters. When the Civil War finished, she started preparing the exams to enter the Cuerpo de Archivos, Bibliotecas y Museos, while she worked as a Latin teacher in the Instituto de Enseñanza Media of Osuna, in Sevilla. She passed the exam in 1942, and she moved to Huelva to work there.
Subsequently, she got the transfer to the Archivo General de Indias in Sevilla, and was named assistant teacher in Granada's University in the subject of Latin. In 1945, she published her first poems with the title "Escalera de Luna".
She moved definitely to Granada in 1948, where she worked in the libraries of the Facultades de Medicina y Farmacia. She was named director of this last faculty, and kept in the charge until her retirement in 1977.
During this time, she continued writing poems and taking part in the gatherings of the group "Versos al aire". She passed away in 1998 in Granada.
