Spanish priest, historian and librarian.
Licensed in Theology and Philosophy and Letters by Madrid's Central University with the thesis El cardenal Zapata, protector de España cerca de la Santa Sede y virrey de Nápoles (1928). He entered in 1909, through an exam, in the Cuerpo Facultativo de Archiveros, Bibliotecarios y Arqueólogos, being destined to the Archivo de la Delegación de Hacienda of Barcelona. In 1911, he worked in the Biblioteca Nacional, in the Manuscripts Section, where he worked with Antonio Paz y Meliá, who he succeeded in the headquarters after his death in 1927. During the Civil War, he was removed from office, to which he was reintegrated after the end of war. Among his works, the excellent Catálogo de los Códices Bíblico de la Biblioteca Nacional (1935) stands out, made in collaboration with Pedro Longás. He was also author of the documented biography of the first mayor librarian of the Biblioteca Real, Juan de Ferreras (1923), and of an article about the Italian archivist and tradist Eugenio Casanova (1929). But the work to which he dedicated more time and efforts, was his projected biography of the cardinal Antonio Zapata de Cisneros; he did not conclude it, when death reached him at the age of sixty-six in Madrid.
