Spanish archivist-librarian.
Born in Ledesma (Salamanca). Father of Quintín and of José María Tavera Baz.
He obtained his doctorate in Philosophy and Letters, Letters Section, in Madrid's Central University in 1912 with the thesis: "Estudios comparativos. Paralelismo fonético en sánscrito, griego y latín".
Civil servant of the Cuerpo Facultativo de Archiveros, Bibliotecarios y Arqueólogos from 1913. He served in Salamanca, first in the Biblioteca Universitaria, and then, in the Biblioteca Popular.
At the beginning of the Civil War, he was destined in the Biblioteca of Salamanca's University. He is purified in virtue of the Decreto N.º 66 of 10 November 1936, and he was able to continue in the service with no sanction.
Moreover, his labour as investigator and speaker stood out.
