Spanish archivist, historian, and writer.
He was born in 1894 in Barcelona and was the brother of Carlos Soldevila.
He graduated in Philosophy and Letters from the Universidad de Barcelona in 1915, where he was a student of Antonio Rubió Lluch. In 1916, he earned his Ph.D. from the Universidad Central de Madrid with the thesis "La Reina María esposa del Magnánimo", awarded with an extraordinary prize.
He joined the Corps of Specialist Archivists and Librarians in 1922 through a public examination. His professional career began at the National Library of Spain, and that same year, he was assigned to the Biblioteca de Mahón (1922-1924). He then worked at the Archivo de la Delegación de Hacienda in Logroño (1924-1931) and the Archive of the Crown of Aragon (1931). Later, he moved to the Biblioteca Universitaria de Barcelona (1931-1936) before returning to the Archive of the Crown of Aragon (1936-1954). In 1954, he returned once more to the Biblioteca Universitaria de Barcelona, where he worked until his retirement at the age of 70 in 1964. Ferrán Soldevila passed away in Barcelona in 1971.
